We are a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Newham seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join our pastoral team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by supporting students to overcome behavioural barriers and succeed both academically and personally.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional support to manage their behaviour and engagement in school. You will build positive relationships, act as a role model, and implement strategies to help students develop self-regulation, confidence, and a positive attitude to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural needs
- Develop and implement behaviour support plans in collaboration with staff
- Monitor student progress and report on behaviour and engagement
- Support students during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment
About You:
- Experience working with young people (school-based or youth work preferred)
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Calm, patient, and resilient under pressure
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people to succeed
