CNC Machinist / CNC Operator (1 Week Early/1 Week Late)
First Achieve Engineering are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist / Operator to join a well-established engineering business specialising in high-quality, low-volume manufacturing.

The Role
You will be responsible for manufacturing precision components and sub-assemblies using a range of CNC and manual machine tools, working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set, program, and operate CNC milling or turning machines
- Manufacture components in a low-volume, high-quality production environment
- Work to engineering drawings and tight tolerances
- Modify or manufacture tooling including jigs, fixtures, and moulds
- Inspect and verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment
- Achieve production targets in line with job requirements
- Accurately log work times using ERP systems
- Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Maintain high standards of health andamp; safety at all times
- Identify hazards and promote safe working practices within the workshop
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a CNC machining environment
- Proven experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines
- Ability to read and interpret ISO engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Competent using measuring equipment (micrometres, Vernier callipers, etc.)
- Basic IT skills
- Understanding of 5S principles
Desirable:
- Time-served apprenticeship
- Experience with CNC programming, setting, and operating
- Familiarity with controls such as:
- Hurco (Winmax)
- Fanuc
- Mazatrol (Mazak)
- Siemens
