Job Description
Overview
You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC Turning machines, machining components from a variety of materials. The section primarily uses Mazak and Fanuc machine controls. Our equipment includes two Turn/Mill lathesandmdash;one featuring a Y-axis and sub-spindleandmdash;as well as a Mazak J200 Integrex Mill/Turn machine.
Most work involves using prepared process and tooling sheets with pre-created programs. However, you may occasionally need to perform machine-side program editing. Knowledge of conversational systems such as Mazatrol or Hurco would be advantageous.
A solid understanding of materials, machining techniques, and the ability to plan and execute jobs under pressure are essential. While not mandatory, a recognised apprenticeship combined with significant post-training industrial experience is a strong indicator of competence in this role.
Specific Responsibilities

Setting and operating CNC Turning centres

Occasional editing of CNC programs

Using conversational systems like Mazatrol and Hurco (training available)

Ensuring programs operate effectively

Complying with the companyandrsquo;s health and safety policies

Performing general duties that support the efficient running of the section
Previous Experience
Essential:
-
CNC setting and operating experience on 2-axis Turning Centres

Knowledge of CNC programs (Fanuc, with some Mazatrol or conversational experience)

Proficiency in setting up and proving programs

Ability to interpret engineering drawings

Strong knowledge of materials, cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling

Competence with measuring instruments (micrometers, verniers, etc.)

Ability to work accurately on complex components

Strong prioritisation skills
Desirable:

Familiarity with aerospace quality systems

Experience with mill/turn machines, Y-axis, and/or sub-spindle operations
