Cover Supervisor
Job Description
Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting dedicated and proactive Cover Supervisors to work in a variety of successful secondary schools across North London. This position is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, coaches, or individuals with experience working with young people who are keen to develop their skills within education.
The Opportunity
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing lessons during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused and engaged while completing pre-set work. You will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning and supporting a positive school culture.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leading classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher.
- Delivering lesson instructions and ensuring students complete assigned work.
- Maintaining high expectations for behaviour and classroom conduct.
- Creating a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment.
- Encouraging student participation and engagement throughout lessons.
- Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and behaviour.
- Responding effectively to classroom challenges and following school procedures.
- Contributing positively to the wider school community.
The Ideal Candidate

- Hold a degree or have relevant experience working with young people.
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Are confident presenting to and managing groups of students.
- Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and resilience.
- Have a genuine passion for supporting young people's development.
- Can adapt quickly to different subjects, classrooms, and school settings.
- Have previous experience in schools, coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or youth work (advantageous but not essential).
Working Pattern
- Full-time opportunities available.
- Monday to Friday.
- Typical hours are 8:00am - 4:00pm.
- Occasional attendance at after-school activities may be required.
Requirements

- Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
- Complete Prospero Teaching's registration and compliance checks.
