Position: Customs Coordinator
Location: Rochester
Salary: -28,000 - -34,000

Our client, a well-established freight forwarding company are actively seeking a skilled Customs Coordinator to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all import and export customs entries for ocean freight shipments, ensuring full compliance with UK customs regulations, accurate documentation, and excellent customer service, while liaising with colleagues, customers, and external agencies such as HMRC and Port Health.

Job Overview

• Process all import and export customs entries for ocean freight, including Home Use, IPR, CFSP, ETSF, and bond removals
• Perform tariff classification, manage licenses, and handle other documentary requirements
• Calculate duty and VAT costs per shipment
• Process reclaims and other post-clearance procedures
• Deal with customer and overseas partner queries
• Act as cover when required within the team
• Maintain accurate records and support smooth team operations

Job Requirements

• Full knowledge of UK customs procedures for both import and export ocean freight shipments
• Experience with CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
• Experienced in UK approved customs software, e.g., Multiship, Impatex, Data Freight, or equivalent
• Strong IT skills and excellent attention to detail
• Effective communication skills with colleagues, customers, and external agencies
• Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks
• Experience using freight management systems, e.g., CargoWise, Sequoia, Descartes, CDS, is advantageous

Salary andamp; Benefits

• -28,000 - -34,000 dependent on experience
• Full-time, permanent (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm)
• 28 days holiday (BH Included) + additional 5 days with long service
• Pension scheme
• Office-based in Rochester
