Salary: -40,548 - -47,939 (dependent on experience - aligned to college pay scale)

We are seeking an experienced and driven English specialist to take on a leadership role delivering and developing GCSE and Functional Skills English across a thriving FE college. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator ready to step into (or continue in) a Course Team Leader position, shaping curriculum delivery and improving learner outcomes.

The Role
You will lead and coordinate the delivery of GCSE and Functional Skills English across the college, teaching learners from a range of vocational pathways while driving standards in teaching, learning, and achievement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver high-quality GCSE and Functional Skills English lessons
- Lead and support a team of lecturers, promoting best practice and consistency
- Drive improvements in attendance, retention, and achievement
- Plan and oversee schemes of work, assessments, and curriculum development
- Monitor performance and implement strategies to improve learner outcomes
- Support embedding English across vocational areas
- Lead course team meetings and contribute to quality improvement processes
- Support recruitment, open days, and student induction activities
- Manage assessment processes including speaking, listening, and coursework moderation
Essential Requirements
- Degree in English or related subject
- Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE/DET or equivalent)
- Experience teaching GCSE and Functional Skills English (ideally within FE)
- Experience improving learner outcomes, including attendance and achievement
- Strong leadership or supervisory experience (formal or informal)
- Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to inclusive learning, safeguarding, and equality andamp; diversity
Desirable
- Experience leading a course or managing a team
- Experience in curriculum development and quality assurance processes
- Ability to teach up to Level 3 English
