About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Groundworks Foreman / Site Manager to join their team on a large new build project in Bedford, working directly for a main contractor on a range of civil engineering and groundworks projects across the UK.
This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in groundworks who can drive productivity, maintain high safety standards, and ensure that their element of the project is safely, on time and as per drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day site operations, focusing on groundworks and civil engineering activities
  • Supervise subcontractors
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications
  • Chair DABS and carry out site inductions
  • Manage site documentation, including RAMS, permits, and progress reports
  • Monitor programme schedules and report on progress to a Senior Site Manager
  • Maintain high standards of quality control and health andamp; safety compliance
  • Resolve on-site issues and ensure minimal disruption to programme

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Groundworks Foreman or Site Manager working for a main contractor
  • Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, foundations, roads, and infrastructure
  • Valid SMSTS certification
  • CSCS card (Black or White required)
  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Full UK driving licence
