A leading Maritime business in Plymouth is seeking a Junior Finance Analyst to support the Commercial Lead and Finance team in tracking, evaluating, and reporting on the financial performance of key projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their finance career to gain exposure to project accounting and commercial finance, while developing advanced analytical skills and building a long-term career path in Finance.

The Role
The Junior Finance Analyst will maintain accurate financial data, update monthly trackers, and provide analysis to support effective decision-making across multiple projects. Working closely with Finance and Project teams, youandrsquo;ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial oversight and supporting future project success.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the monthly financial reporting cycle

  • Support the preparation of forecasts and project financial plans

  • Generate cash flow profiles and monitor milestone payments

  • Work with Finance and Commercial teams to support invoicing

  • Update monthly financial trackers, budgets, and timesheets in real time

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of project financial data, resolving discrepancies

  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to support decision making

  • Assist with compliance, audit preparation, and reporting improvements

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and numerical ability with excellent attention to detail

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas)

  • Ability to handle multiple data sources and reporting systems

  • Strong communication skills andndash; able to explain financial performance clearly

  • Organised, proactive and able to meet deadlines

Desirable

  • Experience in a finance, accounts, or budget-related role

  • Exposure to engineering, maritime, defence, or project-driven environments

  • Knowledge of compliance, audit, or PMO processes

  • Degree in Finance, Business, or Commercial discipline (or equivalent experience)
