KS2 Tutor
Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and nurturing tutor to support a Year 6 young person with ASD and ADHD who is currently out of education.
The primary focus of this role is to help the young person re-engage with learning at a pace that suits their individual needs, building trust, confidence, resilience, and positive learning experiences before any academic expectations are introduced.
About the Role
- Location: BH21 (home-based initially)
- Hours: Up to 10 hours per week
- Start Date: September
Key Responsibilities
- Adopt a mentoring and nurturing approach to build a positive relationship with the young person.
- Complete an initial baseline assessment to identify current attainment levels and gaps in learning.
- Gradually introduce KS2 Maths and English in a way that is accessible, engaging, and pressure-free.
- Develop the young person's confidence, resilience, and readiness for more structured learning.
- Work towards supporting a transition into a formal educational setting when a placement has been identified.
The young person is currently without a school placement. The long-term aim is for them to attend a suitable educational setting, ideally within a mainstream environment if appropriate. However, there is no pressure or expectation placed upon the learner, and all support should be delivered at a pace that feels safe and manageable for them.
Essential Requirements
- Must have at least 6 months experience working within education or children's care.
- Strong understanding of KS2 Maths and English.
- Ability to assess learning needs and adapt teaching accordingly.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a tutor who understands that successful learning starts with connection, trust, and confidence building. We are looking for someone who can provide consistent support and help this young person take positive steps back towards education.
If you have the skills, experience, and nurturing approach required, we would love to hear from you.
