Laser / Waterjet Machine Operator

Location: East Lancashire

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Laser / Waterjet Machine Operator to join an established manufacturing operation in the East Lancashire area.

This position is suited to a technically competent operator with proven experience in profile cutting operations within a production-led environment.



Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of laser and/or waterjet cutting machinery, producing components in line with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.



Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC-controlled laser and/or waterjet cutting machines in accordance with process documentation and work instructions
  • Load, position, and unload raw materials and finished components using approved handling methods
  • Set up jobs and monitor cutting parameters to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, cutting lists, and technical specifications
  • Conduct first-off and in-process inspections to verify conformity to quality standards
  • Identify faults, monitor machine performance, and escalate technical issues where required
  • Perform routine checks, basic preventative maintenance, and housekeeping duties
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and manufacturing standards at all times
  • Work to defined production targets while maintaining precision and repeatability


Technical Requirements

  • Previous hands-on experience operating laser or waterjet profile cutting machinery
  • Competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control and accuracy
  • Understanding of CNC machining principles and cutting processes
  • Familiarity with manufacturing health andamp; safety procedures


Desirable Skills andamp; Experience

  • Experience working with CNC-controlled cutting systems
  • Basic machine setting and/or programming capability
  • Forklift truck licence (desirable but not essential)
