Lettings Officer
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Resettlement andamp; Move-On Officer to join our Housing Services team. You will play a key role in supporting households living in temporary accommodation to move into sustainable, longer-term housing, primarily within the Private Rented Sector (PRS). The successful candidate will work closely with landlords, letting agents, and partner agencies to secure suitable housing options, support tenancy sustainment, and help the council discharge its homelessness duties.

- Support households in temporary accommodation to secure long-term PRS tenancies
- Develop and implement personalised housing plans to promote move-on and independence
- Engage, negotiate, and maintain positive relationships with landlords, letting agents, and accommodation providers
- Provide advice to tenants on tenancy readiness, affordability, and sustaining their tenancy
- Manage a caseload of households, monitoring progress and updating plans as needed
- Collaborate with internal housing teams and external partners to ensure smooth resettlement
- Support families with education, employment, and wider wellbeing needs during resettlement
- Ensure all activity complies with relevant legislation, council policies, and safeguarding requirements
- Experience in housing, homelessness prevention, or resettlement work
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy rights, and the PRS
- Excellent landlord engagement and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage caseloads effectively and deliver personalised support
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Empathy and resilience when working with vulnerable clients
