Machine Operative (Training to Extruder Machine Operator) - Witham
Pay: -14.00 per hour (rising to -15.50+ after training)
Hours: Monday to Friday - Weekly rotating shifts * 07:00 - 15:00 * 15:00 - 23:00
Contract: Temp to Perm

We are recruiting for an experienced Machine Operative / Forklift Driver to join a well-established manufacturing business in Witham. This role will heavily involve the daily use of a Counterbalance Forklift, alongside hands-on machine operating duties, with a clear progression route onto an extruder machine.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with machine operating experience-ideally within food manufacturing-who are looking to step into a more skilled position with structured training and increased earning potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily operation of a Counterbalance Forklift to move raw materials and finished goods
• Loading and unloading lorries safely and efficiently
• Operating and monitoring production machinery
• Running filling machinery for 1-tonne bags
• Carrying out product checks, including moisture testing
• Supporting production flow between departments using the forklift
• Assisting with machine setup, adjustments, and basic fault finding
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene and housekeeping

Training andamp; Progression:

• Full training provided with a structured pathway to become an Extruder Machine Operator
• Opportunity to develop into a more technical, skilled role within production
• Pay increase to -15.50+ per hour once trained on the extruder machine

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds a valid, in-date Counterbalance Forklift licence (essential - used daily)
• Strong experience in machine operating, ideally within food manufacturing
• Confident working in a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment
• Mechanically minded with a willingness to learn new machinery (extruder machine)
• Reliable transport or based locally to Witham
• Looking for a long-term, temp-to-perm opportunity with progression
