Tradewind Recruitment is working with inclusive and well-regarded secondary schools in Camden, seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join their pastoral and safeguarding teams on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026. This is a key role where you will have a direct impact on students' wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development from the start of the academic year.
Pastoral Support Worker - Role Overview
In this role, you will support students across KS3 and KS4, particularly those facing emotional, behavioural, or attendance challenges. You will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support for targeted students
- Support students with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and social difficulties
- Build strong, trusting relationships to improve engagement and outcomes
- Work closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding leads, SENCOs, and attendance teams
- Deliver behaviour support strategies and lead restorative conversations
- Monitor student progress, wellbeing, and attendance
- Liaise with parents/carers to support student development
- Support reintegration plans and early intervention strategies
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience in a secondary school setting (essential)
- Proven experience supporting students with SEMH or behavioural needs
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to build rapport with students from diverse urban backgrounds
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
