Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Planning
Design and deliver an engaging Physical Education curriculum in line with national standards.
Plan inclusive lessons tailored to a range of abilities and sporting interests.
Classroom Teaching
Deliver high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Teach a broad range of sports and physical activities, supporting both practical and theoretical elements of the curriculum.
Promote health, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship through structured lessons and extracurricular activities.
Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage and challenge students.
Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and resilience.
Assessment and Progress Tracking
Assess student progress through practical and theoretical assessment methods.
Provide constructive and timely feedback to support student development and performance.
Maintain accurate records of progress, attainment, and achievement.
Extracurricular Contribution
Contribute to the wider life of the school through coaching and leading extracurricular sports clubs and fixtures.
Support inter-school competitions and school sporting events where appropriate.
Differentiation and Individualised Support
Adapt teaching approaches to meet varying ability levels.
Provide targeted support and challenge to ensure all students reach their full potential.
Communication and Collaboration
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, including parentsandrsquo; evenings.
Professional Development
Keep up to date with developments in Physical Education and school sport.
Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.
The Ideal Candidate
A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related subject (Masterandrsquo;s degree desirable).
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a PE specialism.
Experience teaching PE at secondary level.
Strong subject knowledge across a range of sports and physical activities.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
A genuine passion for promoting physical activity and creating an inclusive, challenging learning environment.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
