Year 2 Teacher andndash; Full-Time, Long-Term Position
Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: andpound;34,398 andndash; andpound;46,839 (depending on experience)
A welcoming and community-driven primary school in Hemel Hempstead is looking to appoint a dedicated Year 2 Teacher from September 2026. With a strong focus on inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and supportive leadership, the school provides an environment where both staff and pupils are encouraged to thrive.
This position is ideal for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) seeking to build their career within Key Stage 1, particularly in a Year 2 setting where pupils are preparing for their transition into Key Stage 2.
Your RoleYou will take responsibility for a lively and motivated Year 2 class, guiding pupils through their final year of Key Stage 1. The role offers the opportunity to deliver a broad and engaging curriculum while supporting pupilsandrsquo; academic progress, confidence, and readiness for Key Stage 2.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons in line with the Year 2 curriculum
- Prepare pupils for end-of-Key Stage 1 assessments (SATs) in reading, writing, and mathematics
- Teach core subjects, including phonics, reading comprehension, writing, and maths, to a high standard
- Support pupils in consolidating key literacy and numeracy skills
- Create a positive, well-managed classroom environment that supports learning
- Assess pupil progress effectively and use data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
- Build strong, professional relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- Contribute positively to the wider school community and team culture
The school is seeking a committed and enthusiastic teacher with a passion for supporting pupils at a crucial stage in their development.
You will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Year 2 experience is desirable)
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and assessment requirements
- Be confident in preparing pupils for KS1 SATs
- Be organised, adaptable, and effective in behaviour management
- Show dedication to supporting pupils both academically and pastorally
- Be a proactive and collaborative member of staff
