Long Term Futures are recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant (ELSA) to join a primary school in Newham, supporting pupils with emotional literacy and wellbeing needs.

This role is ideal for someone with experience as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) or a strong background in supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them develop emotional awareness, resilience and positive coping strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver ELSA interventions to support emotional wellbeing
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
• Support children in developing emotional regulation and social skills
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCo and pastoral teams
• Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
• Support pupils both in lessons and during intervention sessions

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working as an ELSA or in a similar pastoral/SEND role
• Strong understanding of SEMH and emotional literacy support
• A calm, nurturing and patient approach
• Confidence working in a primary school setting
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection

• Close to Canning Town (Jubilee Line andamp; DLR) and East Ham / Plaistow (District Line)
