Job Title: Process Engineer (CNC Team Leader)
Location: Dudley
Job Type: Permanent up to -20 - -21 per hour

Working Hours (Rotating Shifts):

  • Morning Shift: Monday - Thursday: 06:00 - 14:00 | Friday: 06:00 - 11:00
  • Afternoon Shift: Monday - Thursday: 14:00 - 22:00 | Friday: 11:00 - 15:00
    Please note: Shifts rotate on a weekly basis

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a skilled and motivated Process Engineer to lead a CNC shop. This will be joining a well-established and growing manufacturing business. This is a hands-on leadership role within a busy machine shop, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident leading from the front.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of CNC operators within the machine shop
  • Set up and operate CNC machinery
  • Input and run pre-written CNC programmes accurately and efficiently
  • Carry out tool changes and ensure machines are running to optimal performance
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure precision and quality
  • Train, mentor, and develop new employees, taking them under your wing to build capability within the team
  • Monitor production output, quality, and efficiency, ensuring targets are met
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment
  • Act as a key point of contact between shop floor staff and management
  • Management of work in progress (WIP) according to planned production date.
  • Inspect parts with precision andamp; measuring tools/provide documentation to support. (Part Data)
  • Lead and support immediate countermeasures, route cause analysis andamp; corrective actions for all notified quality defects or customer incidents.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working within a CNC machining environment
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role (preferred)
  • Ability to input and run pre-written CNC programmes
  • Strong understanding of tooling and tool changes
  • Competent in reading and interpreting technical/engineering drawings
  • A proactive approach to training and developing team members
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Reliable, organised, and quality-focused
