Reinsurance Accountant

About the Role

Join a dynamic commercial financial control team within a global Insurance group. As Reinsurance Accountant, you'll be the key person for reinsurance queries, ensuring high-quality accounting and reporting while working in a supportive team environment that emphasizes mutual growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Review new and existing reinsurance arrangements and administer contracts on FSRI
• Ensure reinsurance premium payments are made in line with contractual terms
• Manage recoveries collection including submission of collection notes to brokers/reinsurers
• Liaise with underwriters, claims, and actuarial teams on potential and actual recoveries
• Ensure all bordereaux are issued and settled within contractual terms
• Report reinsurance movements correctly on a quarterly basis aligned to contractual terms
• Monitor reinsurance bad debt and maintain data quality across systems
• Ensure correct data transfer between underwriting, reinsurance, and financial systems

Requirements

• Prior experience in insurance working in reinsurance accounting either from practice or industry
• Ideally a qualified accountant
• Understanding of different types of reinsurance structures
• Knowledge of reinsurance working practices and terminology
• Good knowledge of Excel
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Pride in delivery of work with attention to detail
• Knowledge of FSRI, experience with CODA or similar accounting systems.
