The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the maintenance, security and cleanliness of the school premises and site. Represent the school in dealing with contractors and suppliers involved in the repair and upkeep of the building and site.andlt;/pandgt;andlt;h3andgt;Role Responsibilitiesandlt;/h3andgt;andlt;ulandgt;andlt;liandgt;Maintaining clean, safe and secure school premises, which includes buildings and groundsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Carrying out cleaning, handyperson activities, routine maintenance and refurbishment, porterage and minor repairsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Some supervision of school cleaning staffandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Promoting health and safety around the schoolandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Carrying out porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment around the schoolandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Maintaining the general school premises, furniture and fittings, and reporting any issues to the Head Teacherandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Carrying out small repairs and DIY projectsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractorsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Carrying out daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, such as litter picking and arranging the disposal of wasteandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Carrying out emergency cleaning duties, such as gritting and cleaning up spillagesandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Arranging an annual deep clean of classrooms, staffrooms, kitchen, dining areas, food tech areas and other frequently used spaces on school premisesandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Taking responsibility for the maintenance of cleaning tools and products, including arranging replacements and ensuring good stock levelsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Maintaining the security of the school premises as the main key holderandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Locking and unlocking the premises as required, including out of school hours when necessaryandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Checking at the end of the school day that all windows, doors and gates are locked, lights switched off, and gas and electrical appliances are turned offandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Setting security alarm systems, reporting any potential security breaches, and responding to any alarms or other call-outs following agreed proceduresandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Carrying out regular checks of CCTV and alarm systems, locks, fire safety appliances, security gates and perimeter fencing, and ensuring any necessary repairs are actionedandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Advising the Head Teacher on all matters relating to school security and safety. Ensure a safe working and learning environment in accordance with relevant legislation.andlt;/liandgt;andlt;/ulandgt;andlt;h3andgt;Requirementsandlt;/h3andgt;andlt;ulandgt;andlt;liandgt;Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schoolsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Previous caretaking experience within a school environmentandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Previous experience of building maintenanceandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Previous experience of security including alarm systemsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Good knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulationsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Basic DIY skillsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Good interpersonal skills to protect the schooland#39;s interests in dealing with contractors and other visitors to the siteandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Good literacy and numeracy skillsandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Ability to work in an environment with SEMH childrenandlt;/liandgt;andlt;liandgt;Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure andamp; Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
