Job Title: Secondary andamp; Post-16 Teaching Assistant
Area: Bury, Greater Manchester
Start Date: Monday 23rd March 2026 or ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: -525700 per week (Dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

About the School:

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting young people with special educational needs (SEND)? We are seeking Secondary and Post-16 Teaching Assistants to join a specialist secondary and sixth form school in Bury, supporting pupils aged 11-19 with a wide range of complex needs, including autism, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments.

Secondary andamp; Post-16 Teaching Assistant Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across secondary and post-16 classes.
  • Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes and ensuring pupils can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Support the development of independence, life skills, and social engagement.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
  • Work closely with the school team, families, and external agencies to ensure a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Secondary andamp; Post-16 Teaching Assistant - What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in a school, residential, or community setting. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to managing behaviour
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to helping pupils achieve independence and life success.
  • A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential

Secondary andamp; Post-16 Teaching Assistant - To Be Eligible You Must:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
  • Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
