Alternative Provision Settings

TeacherActive is working in partnership with a number of alternative provision settings across the Bury area, and we are currently recruiting SEMH Specialists, including both Qualified Teachers and experienced Teaching Assistants, for multiple vacancies.

These provisions support pupils who require additional social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) support, often due to barriers to mainstream education. The settings are committed to providing structured, therapeutic and nurturing environments where pupils can re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
andbull; Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
andbull; Supporting behaviour regulation strategies and de-escalation techniques
andbull; Assisting with personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
andbull; Building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils
andbull; Promoting emotional wellbeing and positive engagement

Teacher Responsibilities:
andbull; Planning and delivering tailored lessons that meet individual needs
andbull; Differentiating and adapting the curriculum to support engagement
andbull; Implementing strong behaviour management and restorative approaches
andbull; Monitoring progress and contributing to review meetings
andbull; Working collaboratively with support staff, families and external agencies

We Are Looking For:
andbull; Experience working with pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour or trauma
andbull; A calm, consistent and resilient approach
andbull; Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
andbull; Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
andbull; For Teachers andndash; Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
andbull; For TAs andndash; Relevant experience in education, care or youth work settings
