Role Overview

My client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Engineering Estimator with a strong background in mechanical engineering. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and technically sound cost estimates for engineering project. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with commercial awareness and thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of manufacturing cost estimates for engineered components.
• Review technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project requirements
• Collaborate with manufacturing and CAD teams to ensure accuracy of estimation.
• Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options within project estimates
• Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors
• Develop and maintain estimating databases, cost benchmarks, and historical data
• Provide technical and commercial input during procurement processes.
• Monitor market trends, material costs, and industry developments to ensure competitive pricing
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes

Requirements

Essential:

• Mechanical Engineering level 3 or equivalent.
• Significant experience in engineering estimation within a mechanical or industrial environment
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, machining processes and interpretation of technical documents
• Proven experience preparing estimates within a commercial environment.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
