A growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join their team in Birmingham.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced geoenvironmental professional looking to take on more responsibility across a varied portfolio of projects, with the opportunity to lead investigations, manage projects and support the development of junior staff.
The Role
You will be involved in a range of geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects, including:
- Planning and managing Phase 1 and Phase 2 contaminated land investigations
- Preparing factual and interpretative reports
- Developing conceptual site models and assessing contamination risks
- Designing and supervising ground investigations
- Soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring
- Reviewing laboratory results and assessing contamination data
- Producing remediation strategies and validation reports
- Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators and other consultants
- Supporting environmental permitting and regulatory requirements
- Managing projects, budgets and technical deliverables
- Mentoring and supporting junior members of the team
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
- Several years' experience within a geoenvironmental or contaminated land consultancy
- Strong experience across Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations
- Experience with site investigation, soil and groundwater sampling
- Good technical report writing skills
- Experience managing projects and liaising with clients
- A good understanding of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance
- A full UK driving licence
Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
