Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician
Bedford | Contract Role | Shift-Based (Days andamp; Nights)

PAYE Pay Rate: -21.32 per hour + accrued leave | Overtime x1.5

Rullion are working with a leading organisation in the rail sector to recruit Skilled Maintenance Technicians for a key maintenance depot in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing team supporting critical fleet operations and passenger services.

Whether you already have rail experience or are looking to transition into the rolling stock maintenance industry, this role offers hands-on technical work, training, and the chance to develop your skills in a new and growing sector.

The Opportunity
You'll be part of a dedicated maintenance team responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of passenger trains through planned maintenance and reactive fault finding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance and repair activities in line with production requirements
  • Perform advanced fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Produce detailed technical reports on fault investigations
  • Support and mentor team members in technical skill development
  • Develop specialist technical knowledge across key systems

What We're Looking For

  • Experience within a mechanical or electrical engineering environment
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (essential)
  • Strong fault finding and diagnostic capability
  • Ability to complete maintenance records accurately and in line with procedures
  • Solid understanding of health andamp; safety regulations (COSHH, PPE, manual handling, etc.)
  • Comfortable using laptops and diagnostic systems
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and documentation

Working Pattern

  • 12-hour shifts (12 hour days (07:00-19:00) and nights (19:00-07:00) on (phone number removed) on/off rotation)
  • Candidates must live within a 1-hour commute of Bedford
